Don't be afraid to try adding cables to your knitting! This is a good first cable project.
Knit a cabled hat while learning how easy it is to knit cables. Please come with the ribbing done so we can start right away learning how to knit cables. The hat is knit in the round.

Skill Level: Advanced beginner - skills used include: using a cable needle, decreasing, knitting in the round

Supplies Needed:

  • 6 mm 16” circular and 6 mm DPN’s
  • 110 m of chunky weight yarn. A yarn with gauge of 14 st on 6 mm over 4 inches (Estelle Chunky is recommended)
  • Notions - darning needle, stitch marker, cable needle

Homework: Please come to class with the ribbing done. Cast on 64 stitches for a tight fit (18 in circumference) or 80 stitches for a more relaxed fit (22 in circumference hat) and knit in *k2,p2* ribbing for 2” for a flat brim or 4” for a turned up brim. The sample is knit with 4” of ribbing and 64 stitches.
